You do not require an ABN upon application to Melodique, however will require one if your application is successful. ABNs can be acquired at www.abr.gov.au.

We recommend March music tutor insurance.

A new tutor cannot acquire bookings or allocated students until they are contracted to Melodique. Melodique cannot guarantee a certain amount of bookings or students at any time. New business is acquired via our website and online booking system, where-in the client is in full control of whether they book, which tutor they book with, and for how many lessons they book. A full tutoring schedule can take 1-2 terms to build, however our clients commonly commit to lessons with us for years. We require tutors who have a long-term outlook and the skills, means, time, and patience to invest in good tutor-client relationships. For some perspective, one of our current vocal tutors has 50 x 30-min students per week at Melodique over 4 days, and one of our current piano tutors has 35 x 30-min students per week at Melodique over 3 days — both having tutored with us for over 12 months.

We ask that all tutors understand the rates offered to tutors by a school cannot compete with the rates a tutor might receive if they were tutoring privately. However, if you were tutoring privately, you would also need to cover expenses such as room or studio rent, cleaning, instruments, equipment, technology, licensing, events, staffing, web fees, advertising, marketing, administration, etc. As a tutor at Melodique, you will not have such expenses or time-consuming tasks to contend to.
